Deciding between a macrame rainbow wall hanging and a pom pom baby mobile for your nursery? We compare their uses, materials, and best fit for your space.
Quick answer
Choose the Mia Macrame Rainbow for cheerful, space-saving wall decor that works in any room, or the Pom Pom Baby Mobile if you need a soft, hanging accent directly above the crib or changing table.
Wall vs. hanging: where each belongs
The Mia Macrame Rainbow is designed as a wall hanging — it stays put on a hook or nail and adds a pop of color without taking up floor or shelf space. The Pom Pom Baby Mobile, by contrast, hangs from the ceiling or a mobile arm, making it ideal for areas where you want movement and a focal point above the baby's line of sight.
If your nursery has limited wall space or you prefer decor that doesn't dangle, the rainbow is the practical pick. If you want something that sways gently and can be seen from the crib, the mobile is the better fit.
Materials and safety considerations
Both items are handmade in Bali from natural materials. The Mia Macrame Rainbow is made from 100% cotton, which is soft, lightweight, and easy to clean with a gentle dusting. The Pom Pom Baby Mobile features organic cotton pom poms and tassels on a rattan ring — rattan is sturdy but can splinter if damaged, so check it periodically if used within reach.
For nurseries, safety is key. The mobile is intended for visual stimulation above the crib, not as a toy. The rainbow, being a wall hanging, poses no reach-risk once mounted securely.
Size and visual impact
The Mia Macrame Rainbow measures 11" x 7.5", making it a compact accent that fits small wall sections or gallery walls. The Pom Pom Baby Mobile is larger at 36" x 12.5", so it makes a bolder statement and draws the eye upward. Consider your room scale: a large mobile can overwhelm a tiny nursery, while a small rainbow might get lost on a big empty wall.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Mia Macrame Rainbow: A wall-mounted cotton rainbow that adds color without clutter. It stays fixed, requires zero assembly, and works in any room beyond the nursery. Best if you want a simple, safe wall accent that won't be touched.
- Pom Pom Baby Mobile: A hanging mobile with organic cotton details on a rattan ring. It moves with air currents and creates a soft visual focus above the crib or changing area. Best if you want a dynamic hanging piece, but be prepared to mount it securely and check the rattan over time.
- Key difference: placement: The rainbow mounts on a wall; the mobile hangs from above. This determines where each can go and how much space they need. Measure your wall and ceiling space before deciding.
Product facts
